Snickerdoodles Recipe

I had fun making Snickerdoodles last weekend for my family to enjoy and stuck some in the freezer to bring out at Christmas. This is another recipe that I loved making and eating while growing up. I love them when they are still warm out of the oven!! 🙂

Total time:
Serves: 5 dozen
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  1. Get your oven heated to 375 degrees F.
  2. Blend shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar in mixer.
  3. Add eggs and blend.
  4. In a separate bowl, add together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, and then slowly add to your batter and mix in between.
  5. Using your hands, roll into teaspoon size balls and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet about an inch apart.
  6. In a separate small bowl, blend with a spoon the 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Take your cookie off of the tray to roll it in your mixture and place it back on the cookie sheet.
  7. Use a fork to lightly press down your cookie.
  8. Bake for about 10 minutes and immediately remove from sheet onto a wire rack to cool.
