Christmas Is A Time To Reflect On My Blessings And Spend Time With Family

As Christmas Eve is only 7 days away, I am pausing to take a little time to reflect on my life, count my blessings and making sure that I have my list of things to do handy and updated before the big night. This time of the year can get so hectic, but it helps to stop and remind myself that it will get done, and with Christmases in the past, I try to remember to take time to enjoy all of it, every bit, as it goes by so fast!

From the time that I got my house decorated with my Christmas decorations, I have been making a point of listening to Christmas music. So many great holiday songs, and it really helps to get me into the Christmas spirit. Most people when asked would say that their favorite songs are ones like “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town,” etc. But, of all of the songs, my favorites have always been ones like “Silent Night,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Away In a Manger” and more. I mean, “O Holy Night” by Bing Crosby has got to be my absolute favorite! Listening to a church choir sing some of these songs will bring me to tears in seconds – so BEAUTIFUL! I am partial to listening to Bing, Perry Como and Frank Sinatra, as they are all so great and reminds me of my childhood. In more recent years, I have really enjoyed listening to Martina McBride and Faith Hill belt out their versions of “Do You Hear What I Hear” and “What Child Is This.” I hope you can take time to enjoy some Christmas music too.

Making cookies is a big part of my Christmas tradition. I have added a few recipes of some of the ones we make every year like Snowballs and Snickerdoodles. Again, I love to turn on my holiday music and get to baking. So much joy goes into making something that my family loves to eat. Makes me smile! 🙂

There is nothing better than eating those cookies, that I just talked about, and sitting down to watch Christmas movies with my family during the evenings leading up to Christmas with the Christmas lights shining brightly in the house. Some of my most favorite memories through the years have been made on nights like these. Click here to see my top 5 list of Christmas movies.

To really bring the holidays to life, my family and I love spending time at the theme parks and other festive locations in our area. For instance, we have had a chance to grab a Starbucks drink at Epcot in Walt Disney World Resort and just stroll around taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas. Such a great time! You can check out our pictures and video here. We had the opportunity to have some fun at Christmas at Gaylord Palms this year for the first time ever, and that was so INCREDIBLE!

To wrap this up, as I look forward to Christmas with my family, I am hoping that you all have a very safe and Merry Christmas too. I can’t wait for new memories to be made this year and to get ready for what 2016 brings us! 🙂
