Renovation Project 2016

I have a new adventure/new project that I just started on Friday (January 29, 2016). For my family and I, we will be busy working on a renovation project! So fun! I said that I wanted to get more creative in 2016 when I shared my New Year’s resolution, and I think this is just the perfect opportunity to use my talents. I am going to share my journey with you guys with multiple articles about our progress. I hope you enjoy it and that it helps you out too if you ever have an interest in home improvement. I know that this is going to be taking up a lot of my time for the next month or so, but I really enjoy the process of picking out paint colors, flooring, lighting, etc. I can’t wait to post pictures of the home that we are renewing! Every room is getting a face lift. Also, the exterior of the home will need some attention as well. It is going to be a blast, and I can’t wait to see the before and after shots, as that will mean that we are moving towards our goal of completion!

We began tackling this big project, and with big projects, there are always surprises along the way. Sometimes they are good ones, and other times not-so-good! With the first day (Saturday, January 30) of working underway, painting the ceilings is where we wanted to start. After prep was done in taking down the vents in the ceiling and vacuuming some areas that were dusty from the AC unit, we wanted to be sure the water was running fine. After turning it on, we had found that we had a leak in the garage. Yikes! The water was quickly turned off, and we had to take time to repair that issue before painting could begin. Thankfully, nothing was damaged that badly. Drywall did have to be removed in the garage and more PVC pipe was purchased. We hope that it will dry overnight, and we can turn on the water to the house tomorrow.

With a big house project like this, I know that we will be walking into Lowe’s Home Improvement more than one time per day during our work. There is always something that needs to be shopped for that was not thought of the last time you were there. Hehehe! Just the nature of the job for sure! Also, things pop up, like this plumbing problem, and you must drop everything and hop in your vehicle to go and pick up parts. Thank goodness, the friendly staff at our Lowe’s makes it a nice for us to shop there! 🙂

Another perk of this project is that I will be using my arm muscles for something besides typing! Getting off of the couch and away from my computer for a little bit more time in my day for the near future will allow me to do something enjoyable and productive in a different way than writing. I do have fun visiting with all of you, and I hope to keep up with both my blogging and this new undertaking! We shall see!!! 🙂
