I have been so busy at the first of this year with blogging and the renovation project, that I am just now starting to get back to “normal” living. With that being said, I have a little more time now to add shopping smarter back into my routine. By that I mean using coupons, finding deals, etc. If you are like me, you get so busy in your life that it is hard to keep up with what items you need to purchase for your family, let alone then making sure you buy them when they are on sale or when you can use coupons to reduce the cost! Yikes! I found that I was just so caught up in my other jobs, that I was just grabbing items as we needed them and not having time to worry about paying full price. Trying to remedy that now.
So, I remembered this website called thekrazycouponlady.com, and I started there. I love this site! They do a lot of the hard work for you by going through the sale ads at stores like Walmart, Target, Walgreens and more, and then they find where you can clip coupons to get the best value. I have also found that there are some really cool apps that I didn’t know about that will allow you to save on your grocery/household purchases. YAY!! These are pretty easy to use, and I have had an easy time adding this task into my regular trips to store. I am kinda late to the game on some of these, I am sure, but better late than never when it comes to saving money! 🙂
Check out these apps that I have tried:
Ibotta app (click here to use me as a referral) – With this app, you need to simply browse the items that have discounts and then unlock them prior to going shopping. After purchasing, you will scan the product barcode when you return home, take a photo of your receipt and then wait for the approval on your savings. When you have accumulated $20.00 in savings, you can cash out.
Cartwheel app – This is a great source for savings at Target. You simply go through the items you might purchase, click on them to add them and then have the cashier scan the barcode from your phone at the register. Love it! And, I love that there are so many items listed with a discount – especially their Market Pantry store brand merchandise.
MobiSave app – Simply select the items you want before you check out at the register and then capture your receipt when you get back home. I like this one because, for instance, right now, you can get $.10 off of apples. There is no certain kind specified, and you can purchase them at any store you like. Great! This app is linked to your Paypal account, and you receive your savings almost immediately.
Checkout 51 app – Find offers that you are interested in on this app, purchase and then scan your receipt. Also with this one, no particular store is required and they have some very generic items like MobiSave has – example: $.25 cash back on tomatoes. When you build up to $20 in savings, you can request a check.
What is on my list of apps to try next:
I should also mention that I noticed these apps on thekrazycouponlady.com site, as this website will give tips on when to purchase items and use the apps. It is very noteworthy that you can use a coupon for an item at the store and still be able to get a savings on top of that from the apps that I have mentioned above. Wow! Nice!
I would love any suggestions you may have for other sources. Thanks and happy shopping! 🙂
