Our Fun Stay At Gaylord Palms Resort During SummerFest 2016

Special thanks to Gaylord Palms Resort for hosting my stay. All opinions are my own.

Who doesn’t love a great place to hang out with your family and have everything you need in one resort?!! If you are looking for a place to stay in the Orlando area, Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, is just the place for you! I mean besides your room, it has entertainment, pools, shopping, restaurants, an alligator viewing area and much more that will keep you and your family happy throughout your visit. Plus, right now until August 21, 2016, there is a lot of extra fun stuff going on during SummerFest featuring Princess Blackheart and the Buccaneer Bash. The kids (and adults) have the opportunity to enjoy First Mate Movies on the Deck, Blackheart’s Treasure Hunt, Princess Priscilla’s Coronation Character Breakfast and more. Click here for more details on SummerFest.

We had a chance recently to stay at Gaylord Palms Resort and take in all of the amazingly beautiful features of this resort. After checking in, we immediately headed to our room (see more pictures and a video of the room and lobby here) on the second floor, which had two queen beds, TV (it is worth noting that Netflix, Hulu Plus and more were available), refrigerator, full bathroom and a lovely balcony with 2 chairs overlooking the atrium. Oh yeah, that atrium was calling to us to come down and explore, and that is what we did. The atrium holds so many wonderful things to see around every corner. We were delighted with flowers, vegetation, fountains, restaurants, waterfalls, alligators and much more.

Food was being prepared for the evening at the Villa de Flora restaurant, and it looked so good. The Moor restaurant is very neat. Seating is in a yacht that is sitting on the largest indoor salt water lagoon with fish native to Florida like Snook, Tarpon and Red Fish swimming in it. I think I liked the looks of Old Hickory Steakhouse the best though with its rustic feel. Being that I love the mountains, and having lived in Tennessee for many years, this was right up my alley. If you are sports fans like us, then Wreckers Sports Bar would be a great place to eat and catch a game. SORA is located near the hotel lobby and serves sushi. For a quick bite, there were multiple shops with snacks, fruit, drinks and more. There was a cute little place that sold frozen yogurt called Honeybells, and a lot of guests were enjoying that! For those that need a little caffeine pick-me-up, you can grab a coffee at The Coffee Bean Coffee House. They serve Starbucks coffee! Yay! And don’t forget to grab a souvenir, a magazine for your visit, sunscreen, etc. at Emerald Bay Marketplace.

After leaving the atrium, we headed over to the convention area, which we were a little familiar with because we had fun last Christmas during Christmas at Gaylord Palms checking out the ice sculptures, drinking hot cocoa and watching the wonderful show Cirque Dreams. After seeing that, we walked around outside to see everyone enjoying the 2 pools and hot tubs. The kids’ pool is impressive. Some really cool water slides, and other water features, will have your kids spending hours in the water. The second pool is for the grown ups, and I loved that there were private cabanas to sit in as well. Very nice. Also, outside, there was a huge lawn area (Coquina Lawn) where families were throwing Frisbee’s and kids were running around and being entertained by the SummerFest activity Y’ARRRd Games. What a great place to get some sun and exercise.

What I found that I loved about the whole area, inside and out, was that there was ample seating to just stop and rest and take all of the beauty in. My son, husband and I all agreed that it was probably one of the most unique places that we have ever stayed at. What a wonderful time it was, so relaxing and refreshing.

Later, I thought back to my very first impression of Gaylord Palms Resort and it brought adjectives like gorgeous and grand to mind. The architecture was beautiful. It has that Spanish Renaissance feel, and it is just amazing! Everything was CLEAN!!!! I only feel comfortable at resorts that are neat and tidy! This resort is in very close proximity to Walt Disney World Resort and a short drive to Universal Orlando Resort, plus so much more in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. Or, if you just want a weekend getaway with your family and friends, the resort has everything you need to just park your car and sit back and relax!

The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We are very thankful for the opportunity to visit and look forward to spending more time at this magnificent place in the future! 🙂
