My family and I have had so many discussions about which resort at Walt Disney World Resort is our favorite. Which one meets the criteria of most appealing decor, unique, etc.? Well, it always comes back to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. You just can’t beat the fact that you get to sit in your room and be entertained by animals outside your door. It is just INCREDIBLE!! While we love the monorail resorts for the close proximity to Magic Kingdom and staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort to be able to walk over to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it always comes back to the animals!
Have you ever stayed at either Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village? We had a night earlier this month where we needed to use up our DVC points and chose to stay at Jambo House. We love both of these Animal Kingdom Lodge locations, but again, there are a few things we LOVE more about Jambo House. One being that as you walk into the lobby of this resort, you just can’t help but be blown away by the beauty of the African decor and height of the ceiling. The wonderful wall of windows at the end of the building draws you near, where you can look out and see some of those animals I mentioned. There are plenty of comfortable seating areas for relaxing and a large cozy fireplace. The kids will love that they can sit and watch classic Disney cartoons here as well. The other reason we chose to stay here is that the counter service restaurant – The Mara – is on ground level. It makes it a little more convenient to grab food here compared to Kidani Village that doesn’t have a counter service restaurant. They do have some quick foods to pick up at the little store inside their lobby, but it is much nicer to just hop on an elevator to go and eat.
We stayed in a one bedroom unit with a savanna view and were pleased with the amenities. A full kitchen is so great for being able to cook your own meals, if you wish too. When staying onsite of any Disney property, we make our own breakfast and sometimes lunch, and then have dinner out. I love being able to have a full-size refrigerator for drinks and snacks too! The dining area is so comfortable and blends in with the living room. Having the bedroom separate is nice for us, as our son likes to leave the TV on before going to sleep, and we don’t like to do that. 🙂 A soaking tub/shower was located in the spacious bathroom. I like that they had 2 sinks with lots of counter space and a closed off toilet for privacy.
You can access the balcony through the glass sliding doors in the bedroom and the living room. Nice seating on the balcony for enjoying time watching the animals. Oh yeah – the animals I keep talking about! There are over 200 hoofed animals and birds that live here. So amazing! What you will typically see at this resort are zebras, giraffes, gazelles, ankole cattle, kudu, wildebeests and so much more. My favorite are the giraffes! They are just so cool to watch as they walk to their feeding stations. They have a glide about them – so majestic! I had my camera ready and took lots of photos.
Thanks for reading, and I hope that you have a chance to visit this beautiful resort soon!
P.S. If you do wish to have a room with a view of the animals, be sure to book a savanna view.
