So, as I start out this article, I just have to say that we had a BLAST at the preview for Christmas At Gaylord Palms 2016 on Thursday night (November 17, 2016)!!! My family and I were so looking forward to seeing the Peanuts gang in their new ICE! featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles Schulz, and it was truly WONDERFUL!!!! You just have to experience it, it’s so amazing!
We began our night sitting inside the resort’s gorgeous atrium and watching the new light show called A Christmas Wish that incorporated their new 60 foot Christmas tree, and it was totally awesome!!! Soon after that, we were happy to see Cirque Dreams Unwrapped. This show has so many great performers, and we were just in awe of their performance. Next up, Santa propelled down from the rafters to meet up with Mrs. Claus! Wow!! Pretty neat for sure!! Everyone then left the atrium and headed downstairs for more FUN!!!
As we entered the Alpine Village, we immediately went over to walk through ICE! featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas. We couldn’t wait any longer!!! Getting bundled up with the heavy jackets that they provide, and slipping on gloves and stocking caps that I brought, we were ready for the 9 degree temperature! You would think that I would be used to the cold weather being that I grew up in Michigan, but your blood really does thin when you move to warmer weather states. It took us about 15 minutes to walk through, and all we kept saying that it was so GREAT!!! I didn’t want to leave, but my fingers were so cold at the end. I absolutely enjoyed it! The Peanuts music playing throughout was just perfect too! It is definitely a MUST-DO!!!
Time for hot chocolate and some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The pumpkin spice cake doughnut is very YUMMY!! We watched as everyone was having fun sledding on the indoor, eight-lane tubing hill that’s covered in real snow. So very cool – literally!! I just had to. 🙂 After our little break, I snapped more pictures, and Clayton III took more video. We were thrilled to see the characters Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Lucy in costume. It just added to the fun we had by getting a photo with them. Yay!
To top off the night – that was already so wonderful – we had a chance to meet Craig Schulz, who is the son Charles Schulz (the creator of Peanuts). He was there with his family and was so kind to take a photo with us. His wife snapped the picture and was so sweet about it. Now, my husband has been a fan of Peanuts since he was a little boy, and since we started dating in high school, I fell in love with Snoopy and the gang as well. So, to be able to meet Craig – who is doing a phenomenal job of carrying on his father’s legacy – was really special. It was truly an honor. I did get a little misty-eyed when I heard he was there, and I did get very emotional overall, especially seeing the Peanuts gang carved in ice. We drove home reminiscing about the night and how we would remember it forever. So thankful and grateful to have these moments with my family. And, so thankful to Gaylord Palms Resort for inviting us.
