Reflecting On 2016

As I sit here and look back at 2016, I have to smile. My family and I have made so many great memories this year. It is nice to reflect on those fun times, our accomplishments, etc. I am so looking forward to having a ton more fun in 2017! How about you? 🙂

To begin, earlier this year, we had a huge undertaking with a home renovation project. I spent time blogging about our progress, tips on renovation and more. Wow! That was a big job. We pretty much have touched every inch of this house with painting, flooring, a new roof, new AC unit and more. It was so rewarding too. Sitting in my home at Christmastime, I had such a good feeling about the outcome. It was a lot of hard work, but so worth it! If you would like, you can see my article here that wrapped up the project with all of the links included.

We really get into our favorite sports teams (Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Lakers and Tennessee Volunteers) and watch every game. We had a blast watching the Penguins become the 2016 Stanley Cup Champions. So exciting and so happy for the team!! FUN! It is a really wonderful way that our family connects with each other. Win or lose, we always have great conversations and enjoy the ups and downs of the games with each other. Along those lines, we watched as Kobe Bryant finished out his 20 year NBA career with the Lakers. Kind of bittersweet. We had followed his career since he came into the league.

We had the opportunity to take a really great trip to Hollywood Beach, Florida, and stay at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. You can read about that here. The resort is spectacular, and we felt well-rested afterwards. Another fun little overnight stay was in the summer at Gaylord Palms Resort. If you have a chance to visit this resort, you will not be disappointed. I think it is amazing! Plus, we enjoyed spending time checking out Christmas at Gaylord Palms at Gaylord Palms Resort in November too. Seeing the Peanuts gang in ICE! was fantastic and meeting Craig Schulz was definitely something my husband, son and I will all remember and treasure.

We love spending time at the theme parks too! There were many fun trips to all four parks in Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, LEGOLAND Florida Resort and SeaWorld Orlando. Whether it is seeing something new like the Frozen Ever After attraction at Epcot, or just walking around the parks to get some exercise and enjoy the sights, my family and I always have fun being together. I enjoy taking photos of flowers and scenery too, and the parks always have such pretty ones to snap photos of. I post one every day on my Facebook page, and if you would like to take a peek, click here. I took this picture, that is at the top of this article, at Epcot in March.

Lots of great movies came out this year! Top movies for us were Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and Marvel’s Doctor Strange. What were your favorite movies this year?

2016 was great! Now looking ahead to the new year, I hope that 2017 is wonderful for everyone! And, if you have a chance to check it out, I had taken some time to write about my goals for the coming year, and you can read that here. Thanks!! 🙂
