Special thanks to the Residence Inn Port St. Lucie for hosting my stay. All opinions are my own.
We were on the road again a couple of weeks ago for a doctor appointment my husband had in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It is quite a drive (about 2 1/2 hours) to see his doctor there, and we decided to stay the night and come back the next day. As I have talked about in a recent article, we try to find fun things to do when we have to go out of town for a doctor visit. So, this time we chose to see a baseball game and the Bradenton Marauders were playing the St. Lucie Mets in Port St. Lucie. Yay!!! As you may or may not know, we are fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Marauders are the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pirates. The minor league baseball team that plays in the Florida State League. We had never seen them play before and were excited to watch (more on the game in a separate article – click here)!
So, the appointment went well, and we hopped back in our vehicle to drive to Port St. Lucie. It took us about an hour, and then we arrived at our hotel for the night. I chose the Residence Inn Port St. Lucie, and we were really impressed with the resort! I came up with a cool criteria for our stay (and for the future), and it is the Crooks’ Family Four Cs – Cleanliness, Comfort, Convenient and Courteous.
Read more below as I go into detail about the Residence Inn Port St. Lucie and our visit.
I have a big thing about cleanliness! As we walked in, I looked around in the lobby and I could see that it was really clean and tidy. Along with actually seeing the cleanliness, I also use my sense of smell. We took the elevator up and went straight to our room. My first thought was it smelled fresh and not musty at all! YAY!! Plus, the room was spotless too! Double YAY!!! 🙂
The room itself was so spacious and well laid out. I really felt that it would be comfortable enough for my husband, son and I to stay for a week or more. The hotel had recently been updated and the overall feel was very modern. The kitchen area had a microwave, sink, full refrigerator, stove top, coffee maker and dishwasher. It was super cute and inviting. A table and chairs were in the dining area, as well as a great desk and chair for doing a little computer work. There was ample seating in the living room, and we didn’t feel like we were crowded and on top of each other when we watched TV. The separate bedroom area had its own TV, and the bathroom was adjoining to this room. I liked the fact that the sink was in a separate space from the closed off shower and toilet too. Everything in the unit was up-to-date and so comfy!!! It felt like a cute, little apartment.
My husband and I took the bedroom, and Clayton III slept in the living room on the pull-out sofa. Now, this wasn’t your standard mattress on the pull-out – and he has many times been uncomfortable sleeping on those thin mattresses – this one was an 8″ mattress. I thought that was a really great touch. The kids need to be comfortable and get a good night’s rest too! I mean, that is SO important. It is hard to be away from your own bed, so when you can get a good night’s rest somewhere you have never been before, it is GREAT! And, we did! We all slept well.
One other thing to mention, my family and I all have allergy problems. I talked about mustiness under my cleanliness section, and it really is a huge factor for us. The AC unit didn’t give off any funny smells like we have experienced in some of our past travels at other hotels. We definitely breathed easy in our room at the Residence Inn Port St. Lucie. They also have a smoke-free policy. This is a must for us! 🙂
I talked about going to see the baseball game a little above. When I was checking out places to stay near First Data Field, this resort was at the top of the list. We were really thrilled that it was a quick 5 minute drive to the stadium and back. And, after traveling so much that day, it was super nice to be able to get home quickly and get some rest. We also noticed that it was so convenient to just about any shopping or dining you could think of! We passed Walmart on the way to the ballpark, along with McDonald’s, Starbucks, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Five Guys, Wendy’s, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Panera Bread and much more. The area was very clean and classy. I made a mental note that we would be coming back to this town in the future!
Guests staying at the hotel could enjoy access to their 24-hour business center, 24-hour fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and more. We enjoyed a great breakfast buffet on the morning of our departure. The meal of scrambled eggs, sausage, hot oatmeal, toast, cold cereals, waffles, fruit, juice and coffee is complimentary with everyone’s stay, and it was YUMMY!! Plus, the space to eat breakfast was nice and there were TVs to entertain you with the morning news.
I cannot say enough about the friendly staff! From the time we arrived, until we checked out, we felt so welcome. Courtesy is important to me, and I think it gives you an overall feeling about your visit. With the great staff on hand, we absolutely left feeling happy, rested and satisfied. Thanks so much for the great stay!
In conclusion, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a beautiful, friendly place to stay for one night or more! It passed our Crooks Family Four Cs with flying colors! Thanks for reading, and let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. 🙂
