It was a hot and humid afternoon (about 96 degrees!) on Thursday, August 31, 2017, and my family and I wanted to get a peek at the opening day of the 2017 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. We persevered through the sweat and heat and walked around most of World Showcase and some of Future World. We then went ahead and left. After checking our steps, we hit more than 5,000 in about 45 minutes. We were really trucking. 🙂 I didn’t want to be out in the sun for very long, and we knew that we would have a chance to get back to the festival a few more times.
Tip: Stay hydrated. It is hot out there, guys!!! 😮
I had been communicating with WDW Today via Twitter (the official in-park Twitter feed for Walt Disney World Resort). They had a great idea for getting out of the heat. The suggestion was to stop by the new Light Lab. It is located in Future World West, next to Cool Club and Epcot Character Spot. We had already left the park when I noticed their message, and I mentioned that we would definitely have to check it out on our next visit. See the chat below.

You should check out the new Light Lab to cool you down! #TasteEpcot

My reply to their message
While hiking around the park, I snapped some pictures of the food kiosks and merchandise for sale, and my son Clayton III shot some video (you can see that below). Everything looked great and smelled really YUMMY! I was glad that it wasn’t that crowded, but I bet over this first weekend it will be packed! If you plan you attending this fun event, you can read about my 5 things to do at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival here.
We have had a fun time visiting Walt Disney World Resort this week. On Monday, we had the opportunity to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We needed to use some of our DVC points by the end of the month, and we love staying at this resort! We had a BLAST on Tuesday evening during the second night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom (take a peek at my article with tips for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and click here for 6 fun things to do during MNSSHP). And then finally, it was great having a chance to stop by Epcot today to see some of the festival.
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will run until November 13th. This is a record 75 days for this event! Cool! Be sure to check out the Eat To The Beat Concerts (see the schedule here) too! Will you have time to visit Epcot during this big festival? Have you been to it in the past? Let me know if the comment section below. Thanks for reading!! 🙂
