Photos & Video: 2017 Christmas Decorations At Magic Kingdom In Walt Disney World Resort
Hey, everyone! We had a chance to hop on over to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort this past Thursday (November 2, 2017) and take a peek a the Christmas decorations!! Yay!! I love Christmas!!! Don’t you??! Disney, as they do so well, transformed overnight from Halloween/fall decorations to Christmas. The last Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season was held on November 1st. We wandered along taking pictures and my son took some video footage. It was a wonderful 80 degrees or so and not that crowded.
The lines of songs were going through my mind before we arrived like, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” Oh, and “Have a holly, jolly Christmas,” was bringing a smile to my face. And then, as we departed from the ferry boat and walked closer to the entrance of Magic Kingdom, we could hear the Christmas music being played!! Yes!! It is now officially time to enjoy Christmastime! And, we absolutely love spending time at Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens and LEGOLAND Florida Resort during this time of year!!! Yay!!! I just love to soak up as much Christmas as I can!!
Now, it was not totally ready yet, but most all of the decorations are up. The Christmas tree has not been put in place yet. And, I thought that the the center of Town Square looked a little bare. After looking back at last year’s photos of the holiday decorations, it reminded me that there are usually some tin soldiers, candy canes and more holiday decorations placed there. Plus, there will probably be more wreaths placed along Main Street near the shops.

Songs like “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “The Christmas Song,” “White Christmas” and many more where playing on Main Street. After we ventured toward Tomorrowland to ride on the PeopleMover (its full name is Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, but we just call it the PeopleMover), I noticed that we couldn’t hear those beautiful tunes anymore. Sad face!! 🙂 We didn’t stay away from Main Street and the castle for too long! 🙂
Here is a little video taken near Cinderella Castle:

We arrived later in the afternoon so that we could see the nighttime display. I wanted to see the pretty lights. My husband wasn’t feeling well, but he wanted to go so that we could walk around a little bit and enjoy it. As the sun went down, it was wonderful to see the lights on some of the wreaths and garlands, Main Street, U.S.A. looked beautiful and we were told by a cast member that the castle was not going to be lit until the first night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party, which is November 9th (read more about Mickey’s Very Merry here). Oh, darn! Oh well, we will just have to head back next week to see it!! 😉
One thing that was interesting to see was the Confectionery still had fall displays in the windows, and it was fun seeing the Christmas wreaths and garland on the exterior of the building along with them.
We popped in to see the Christmas merchandise for sale at the Emporium. It seemed pretty similar to last year’s items. Kind of that Old World Christmas theme with the goodies available to purchase. I snapped a bunch of photos of the shirts, decorations, Christmas ornaments, kitchen items and more.
My son had a whole collection of these Racers, and it was so cool to see them as ornaments!!

As we left the park and drove out, we were stopped and not sure why. But, after waiting about 20 minutes or more as helicopters swirled above us, a motorcade went through. I took this video below, and we are pretty sure that it was Vice President Pence, as he was in town.
Got stopped after leaving #magickingdom tonight. Lots of helicopters above & looks like it was #VicePresidentPence! #WaltDisneyWorld pic.twitter.com/pSaAKnQ6Xa
