Highlights Of 2017 & Goals For 2018

As 2017 is winding down, it’s a great way to reflect on what happened this year and to look ahead to 2018. My guys and I had a great year together. I say that, and we did have some hard times with my husband’s health (see my article on my husband’s hospitalization here). This is something that we are very aware of and it is a part of our daily life. We just pray that he feels better and give him lots of love. My family and I had lots of really fun moments too, and I am so thankful for them and feel so blessed! 🙂

Some of the fun things that we experienced this year were visiting the theme parks in the Orlando area like Walt Disney World Resort, LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Orlando Resort. Plus, we had the opportunity to visit Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament , new baseball stadiums like watching the Bradenton Marauders in Port St. Lucie, Floridaand some new and fun experiences like spending time at The Escape Game Orlando. My Twitter account was hacked – UGH – and we went through Hurricane Irma. Plus, I celebrated 7 years of blogging and Clayton III graduated from high school. And, our Pittsburgh Penguins were Stanley Cup Champions again! Wow..it has been an eventful year! 🙂

Highlights of 2017 & Goals for 2018

Now, I am getting ready for 2018. I think I say it every year, but this year really has flown by. I have some new and old goals for the coming year that I have shared below.

For 2017, I wanted to focus on health and exercise (see my article on my goals for 2017 here). I did a pretty good job of that, but for 2018 I want to do a little better. Not only do I want to stay focused on my exercising, I want to make healthier meals for myself and my family. My husband wants all of us to eat more whole foods, and that makes so much sense! Not eating a lot of processed foods is better for us. So, I will need to be more vigilant in meal planning and making my grocery lists. It is easy to fall back on the old standbys, but it will be exciting to try new recipes and foods. I already LOVE using my Instant Pot, and this appliance will get used even more in the new year, for sure! 🙂

Time management

I will be working on doing a better job with my time management. I have to be more aware of how much time I am spending on my blogs so that I can get all of my other tasks completed. And, I don’t want to be stressed. So, if that means I will need to spend a little less time on the blogging side, that means I just have to be more efficient when I have my set time for them. Some of the things that I have done in the past for social media may change too. I have decided that I will have to cut back on my flower photos that I post on Facebook everyday. I love doing it, and I love taking flower photos, but I need to cut back on that time spent. So, I won’t be posting a photo everyday, but will do so periodically. It seems too minor to even be talking about this one particular task that I make time for. But, that is a time consuming job that I take time for every week. I take time to look for flowers everywhere I go, then I go through my photos and crop them (which isn’t that quick because I enjoy seeing a photo in different ways) and then I spend time scheduling them to post on Facebook and what to write for each day’s picture. I guess the point I am making is that each second counts in a day. I have to cut back on some things so that I can make room for others.

Wrapping it up

Trying to be more present in my day-to-day life is what I want to focus on. That means visiting with my two Claytons more, giving more attention to our two sweet cats and doing some things that I have been meaning to do…like crafting!! I have some other projects that may come up this year too that I am pretty excited about. What 2017 has taught me is that life can change at any moment. It is kinda scary how quickly your health, or a loved one’s health, can change how you feel about what you are doing in life. Life is short, and I want to do the things that make myself and my family happy and healthy!

So, good luck to you in all of your endeavors in 2018!! I wish that you all enjoy your new year and have a lot of fun times, make great memories, have good health and to just be happy! Thank YOU for reading and sharing my content this year and always. I really do appreciate your support! That is definitely why I will continue to blog. Have a very Happy New Year!! 🙂
