I woke up this morning and just didn’t feel very happy. I couldn’t wait to get my day started, but I just felt irritated. I think I slept funny and also had a bad dream. I woke up in the night and my body was so tense. Then, it was hard to get back to sleep because I knew I would pick up where that nightmare left off. Ugh!! So, as I was getting awake, I thought about what I could do to snap out of my bad mood.
Here are seven ways that help me change my bad mood:
This is pretty obvious…COFFEE!!! I like to start my day with at least one cup of coffee. I sometimes find that I need a second cup later in the day. It is really funny that I only started drinking coffee a little before I turned 40 years old. I definitely enjoy it, and it does help jump start my day.
2. Take a walk
In order for me to clear my mind and get a new perspective, I like to walk. I am doing something great for my body – as this is my daily form of exercise – and I always feel accomplished after returning home. It is great to get outside and get some fresh air. I love listening to the birds, watching the squirrels and enjoying the pretty scenery. The pictures above where taken this morning. That view gave me an instant smile.
Turning on a fast-paced song and getting up to dance and sing to it is a great way to get a quick spurt of energy and happiness. That “feel good” burst can be all you need to help you focus. I have a whole list of my favorite dance songs handy for times that I need to just jam out!
4. Chatting with my husband
I always feel better when my husband and I chat. The mornings are quiet, and we love talking about what we are doing for the day and catching up about our future together with our son. Talking with someone you care about will help you resolve any issues that are troubling you. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and son that support me and show me so much love every single day! 🙂
5. Grab a book or magazine
I have usually get right on Twitter while I am drinking my coffee. But I decided not to that today. Sometimes catching up on the news can really affect my state of mind, and I knew since I was already struggling a little bit, that it would be best to stay off of it. 🙂 So, instead, I thought of grabbing a magazine and reading some articles to get my mind off of my mood.
6. Spending time with our cat
Taking time to pet and give attention to our sweet Cassie always makes me feel better. She LOVES attention, and it gives me that instant satisfaction and peacefulness.
7. Looking at old photos
I love looking at old photos of the fun adventures my family and I have enjoyed. It is a great way to turn my attention to all of the good things in my life.
Now that I have shared my tips and ideas, I would love to hear what you do to change your mood from bad to good. I will try it the next time I need to feel better! 🙂
